Welcome to "The Hopeful Perspective" a podcast discussing what it entails to transform from a personal position of suffering, pain, loss and HOPELESSNESS toward a renewed perspective of security, perseverance, love and HOPE. I am your host, Jason Hopkins, a long time victim and survivor who has personally been impacted by the Lord to be a victor and a thriver! In each podcast episode you can expect to find authentic dialog from a Biblical and experiential perspective—that is, BEYOND mere religious anecdotes and simple academic exercise—though all used together engage how to find the HOPE that is essential in moving from a victim to victory. I am a husband, father, pastor, aspiring author, and a long time Biblical counselor specifically in the areas of premarital/marital counseling, addiction and trauma. Note, that I am a Biblical counselor; not to be confused with the accreditation required and used in professional counseling in the mental health system limited by certain ethics ( like sharing ones' faith). God is the ultimate Healer.
I have been privy to incredible testimonies of healing through the most imaginable kinds of grief, suffering, and trauma one can imagine: in particular my own story surviving one of the most prominent child abuse cases in the state of Oregon in the 1990's, 26 foster homes and multiple mental health diagnosis. Today, I seek to share the hope that I have found in my own life with the countless other that are still grieving, struggling, and even suffering with the broken world of their past or the current trials they endure.
